Activity 2: World Poetry Day
On Thursday, March 21, 2024, World Poetry Day, the students of the 5th GEL Petroupoli celebrated poetry with various activities:
Poetry competition: A poetry competition entitled "Poetic Democracy" was organized.
The students wrote poems in the Literature course, inspired by great Greek poets.
The poems written were presented and recited in the school yard.
Evaluation: A committee, consisting of students and teachers, evaluated the poems.
Prizes: The prizes were announced and the poem of the student M. Arabatzis, entitled "Hymn to the Muse", won the second prize.
Objectives:
The cultivation of literary creativity and critical thinking.
The enhancement of expression and communication.
The promotion of democracy and active citizenship.
Furthermore:
The prize-winning poem of M. Arabatzis was translated into English to be presented in the framework of the Erasmus+ program.
Conclusion:
The actions implemented in the framework of the Erasmus+ program "New Democratic Values in Today's Europe" contributed to the development of skills, the cultivation of values and the strengthening of the European identity of the students.
