The 416 Fire was devastating in many ways, burning over 50,000 acres in 2018. This map shows the effects of the fire. In Map A, we can see that the landscape looks to be in a natural state, whereas Map B shows an obvious change in vegetation due to the fire. Lastly, Map C shows the difference normalized burn ratio of the affected area, as the higher values show the burned area more clearly.Â
Furthermore, large burn areas contribute to landslides as the burned vegetation lacks the ability to effectively prevent erosion. The maps below show the watersheds within the 416 Fire. Map D shows the average landslide risk per watershed, whereas Map E shows the maximum landslide risk per watershed.
