Needs Assesment

Needs Assessment (NA)は、Brown （1995）によると、systematic collection and analysis of all information necessary for defining and validating a defensible curriculum　と位置付けられている。英語教育プログラムのニーズ調査の場合、将来にどのような状況でどのような英語を使用するのかを探り、現状とのギャップを埋めるようなプログラムを構築することとなる。

学生と教員の考えるニーズの比較

学生と教員の考える英語力のニーズを比較したところ、重複する部分もあれば、ギャップのある点も見られた。両者とも必要ととらえたニーズは英語の口頭発表、特にポスター発表できる力やコミュニケーション能力であった。一方、教員だけが必要と考えたのは、リーディング力と語彙の重要性であった。
