What's the best online TEFL course?

Based on my experience teaching English in Asia I would say that the best course is going to teach you how to teach the students you teach.
Sound basic?
Sound like a given? Well guess what it's not! Just think back on your previous education and how practical is was. Education is largely theoretical and abstract. There's a lot of memorizing names, dates, abstract concepts, and mathematics the average person never uses.
I took 2 courses (TESOL and TEFL) and neither was very helpful because they were too theoretical and not enough of showing you what to do.
That is why I created ESLinsider.
Think about who you are going to be teaching: kids or adults.
If you teach adults you take a course for that which is actually most courses since most courses model CELTA and the A in CELTA is for adults.
However, based on my experience most jobs in Asia are for teaching children not adults so I know from the other courses I've taken that it is not a good match.

You need visuals if you take a course online. I took a cheap course online and there were no visuals! No pictures and no video.
The easiest way to learn is to watch other experienced teachers NOT read about it. Monkey see, monkey do.

Third...
Feedback and interaction with a teacher via writing or Skype or something helps a lot. How will you know if you are doing it correctly?
The bottom line is...
A cheap course is probably not going to contain much video, it's not going to be targeted at a specific age group, and there's not going to have much feedback because all of those things are expensive to do.
Now a more expensive course won't necessarily either.
It depends.
I'd encourage you to focus on what's going to be the best for learning NOT the more impressive sounding TEFL accreditation.
