I found this project very interesting and instructive. First, we chose to work on a new topic, as a matter of fact, e-scooters were not legal in Ireland at the beginning of the year, this gaves me a bigger enthusiasm for our project because we worked on a new topic in Ireland but it also allowed us to be well informed about the evolution of the topic in the country. Second, this project was really instructive because it taught me a lot of thing on different points. On one hand, I really learnt on human point, indeed, this project taught me to listen people and learn from them, take decisions, accept to do mistakes, being regular (post on Instagram each week) and others. On the other hand, it also taught me some new skills, for example I learnt how to do photomontages (on Affinity) for our Instagram posts, improved my communication skill, through discussions with e-scooter companies and my organisational skill by managing a timetable for the group (allocate tasks, deadlines...).
Unfortunately, the only disillusion that I have from this project is that we didn't realized it, indeed, due to the lake of time, the pandemic ... We only did this project on a theoretical and virtual dimension.
This module of Social Enterprise Practice was very interesting from a professional and human point of view. My group and I decided to work on the implementation of electric scooters in the Irish capital. Indeed, after a few weeks spent in Dublin we realized that there was no presence of these devices in self-service in the streets. This intrigued us because in France we don't even count the number of brands that are specialized in this service. It is with great enthusiasm that we decided to work on this project. It was very formative because it taught me to work in a group, to take decisions sometimes good, sometimes bad, always with the objective to advance this project. I had to be rigorous, because I had to respect a strict schedule on the rate of publication of Twitter posts while making them attractive for our followers. On the other hand, we had to exchange with different companies related to electric scooters and especially with the Irish government to have explanations on the laws prohibiting the presence of these vehicles. I had to show diplomacy and professionalism in the various discussions by mail.
This work as a whole allowed me to put into action the skills I acquired during this year. Unfortunately, we decided not to continue this project because the personal and monetary investment was too important for our current situation.
This project will have taught me to work on all the points that revolve around an idea. Indeed, at the beginning of the project we wanted to make it existing, that is to create and implement really electric scooters. To do this, we had the opportunity to get in touch with the Dublin Minister of Transport, which was an enriching experience given the communication skills used. Finally, we were not able to go further in this project because the legislation did not allow us to do so. So we decided to continue on the same idea but in a fictitious way to see how far the project could go. This subject will have taught us to adapt according to the responses collected in order to evaluate the project from another angle. All the disciplines of entrepreneurship have been applied and have taught us a lot through this project. To organize ourselves, we divided the work in order to create a logo, a graphic charter to give life to our website, then we did a market study and then the data course allowed us to share all of its information in a creative and attractive way in order to attract a certain audience. If I have to pick up on the project in a few points, I would say that I learned a lot from the evolution it took and the adaptation we had to face. Moreover, the concept of communication has played a key role throughout our project, both in terms of emails exchanged and in terms of information sharing through the site and social networks. Finally I found the idea of the e-shop very attractive since it allowed us to think about an additional dummy sale allowing us to display our own logo on the connected backpack or on the protective helmet.
The e-Dublin team would like to thank Jeff Taylor (our Social Enterprise Practice lecturer) who gaves us a total liberty for our project but who was also every time available to help us and answers our questions when we needed it and Denis Cullinane (our Data Management lecturer) who helped us to give visibility to our project and develop our social medias.
