My name is Thai Johnsen and my interests include industrial engineering and programming. What prompted me to have interest in these types of engineering is enjoying working with computers and wanting to pursue a career in using programs as computers are an essential part of everyone's life. I have wanted to pursue engineering ever since I was introduced to the world of coding and programming through small and fun assignments.
Classes to prepare me for a career within programming and computer engineering include basic coding and AP computer science principles. I have not taken any program of studies but try to involve myself in programing engineer courses. I have learned to use code to manipulate physical things and have used such devices such as an Arduino or raspberry pie to control movement of projects and displays. I have also gained experience through my internship at NAWCAD wolf. During my internship I gained skills in solidworks and autocad through creating drawings for parts. Then they would be produced for the company using CNC machining.
My field of extracurricular includes playing soccer for my Highschool and for a club. This helped me to build skills in working as a team for a common goal and to ask what decision is best for the benefit of not just yourself but also your team. Soccer would help me with my career as it would teach me to help others find and lead others to a common goal. I have been employed as a soccer referee which helped me to control and maintain an efficient yet fun environment for players, coaches, and refereeing officials such as myself. It aids me in my future career as an engineer as it would help to control situations in a group and help me to control and take action in certain situations that are out of hand.
My plans after High school graduation is to attend University as it gives the experience of working as an adult alone and helping to pursue a degree and major in a selected study. As some jobs do take certain degrees I would want to work to achieve those degrees to pursue a well paid job. I do however not oppose going straight to work if the opportunity presents itself.
My final career goal is to become a product designer. My dream is to apply my learning into a creative field where I can design and create my own product. I have always been interested in making hands on products using the combination of technology and materials to build something that is truly my own
