1. I am interested in solving depression, but that issue is so large and simply can not be solved with one solution. Remember the wicked problems issue? So instead I will narrow in on a group of people who are impacted by this problem that I am motivated to help - children under the age of 10.

3. Children under the age of 10 can be categorized as infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and early school age. Socioeconomic status is significant and according to the Census Bureau, in the US 16% of children live in poverty. Children are heavily influenced by the family around them. Awareness around mental health is increasing and more measures are put in place to help children with this.

It was also helpful in identifying the impact of poverty on children. This could be something to think more about and see if perhaps a focus on children in poverty who face depression is an even more focused path I want to go down.

4. For children under the age of 10 with depression, a day in their life may look like reluctance to get out of bed and get ready for school, issues concentrating at school and having interests in activities after school, and may experience low energy and emotional outbursts. These difficulties become even more challenging for children living in poverty. They may have even more social isolation, more nutrition challenges, and lack of healthcare supports to effectively address mental health.
