Digital Technologies
Digital Technologies
This class is about the application of digital marketing using digital technologies.
While it is possible for a person to be both creative / idea minded and technical / engineering minded, more often a person tends to be more toward one end of the spectrum between the two (think Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak). This class caters to students anywhere on that spectrum.
Your motivation for taking the class and goals you hope to achieve could be any of the following:
Learning the basics about the technologies so you know enough to speak intelligently to partners or people you hire to do the technical work.
or...
Learning enough about the technologies to do a lot of the work yourself without needing to hire someone.
or...
Mastering the technologies so you become the one other people hire to do the work for them.

Productively spend 2-3 hours on classwork outside of class (6-9 / week) for every hour in class (3 / week)
If you cannot dedicate at least 6 hours outside of class on this course per week, do not expect to do very well.
If you are able to meet the requirements for assignments in less time, challenge yourself and go above and beyond. There will be varying levels of experience and ability in the class. Your goal should be improvement.
If you find that you need more than 9 hours per week outside of class to understand and complete assignments you probably need a different approach. Please speak to the professor and / or instructional support.
There are usually 2 class meetings per week.

This class utilizes Project Based Learning (PBL), a teaching method in which students learn by actively engaging in real-world and personally meaningful projects. You will actually use the technologies and produce marketing materials. It is best if you have a real business idea or entrepreneurial venture that you want to do marketing for, possibly developed in ENT 2000. If so, you will do a lot of real, meaningful work in the class. If you don't, you could perform the marketing activities for an established business, like a family member's, for a cause, like reducing climate change, for a non-profit, like a dog rescue, to develop your personal brand, or for affiliate sales. No matter what you do, you will gain the experience of going through all the steps and you will have examples to reference when you need do digital marketing in the future. Even if you never need to do digital marketing for a business, the concepts in the class will be helpful for learning digital technologies for other purposes and for marketing yourself.
