JAMIE WILLIAMS
Mrs. Williams is a social studies teacher as well as the advisor for clubs like Model UN, Youth Against Cancer, and the co-advisor for PRISM. She teaches classes like college US history, participation in government, economics, and psychology. She is a passionate individual who is never afraid to be herself.
I could hear the applause as I walked down the carpeted stairs, but my mind was only focused on one thing: Mrs. Williams was following closely behind me, ready to take a picture. Four years and eight competitions later, I had finally won my first and last excellence in committee award at UB. I could see the joy in her smile and the pride in her eyes. I felt the smooth, flat, cardstock in my hands, and her phone was facing right in my direction. There were hoots and hollers, but I drowned them out as I watched Mrs. Williams and her bright smile press the button on her camera.
She’s seen me grow as a person, and seeing the delight in her was unmatched. We walked back, and I could feel the carpet through my shoes. Mrs. Williams was talking, and I wasn’t the most focused, but a few words stuck with me:
I’m so proud of you.
You deserved this so much.
Two simple sentences and 10 basic words were enough to bring me back to the present. I could feel the tears well up in my eyes as I realized I had accomplished my greatest goal, with the advisor who was by my side through it all.
I’m choosing to interview Mrs. Williams because, as the Model UN advisor, she has seen me grow not only academically, but as an individual as well. I’ve had multiple classes with her, and she never fails to amaze me with her passion and dedication to every subject she teaches. There is never a dull moment around her, and I truly aspire to have her level of compassion and thoughtfulness as I grow older. I've always wanted to know more about her, and I believe this is the perfect opportunity to do so.
She goes to Hawaii to babysit her niece every summer.
She can make a new outfit for every day of the year.
She has two DIY legos of her dogs.
