Jimmy John's Sandwiches <https://bit.ly/uhsandwich> Next door to Nook.

Pink's Pizza <https://pinkspizza.com/locations/> Storied Houston-style Pizza place. Next to Jimmy John's and Nook.

Student Center South and other UH-sponsored food outlets: look around this site <https://dineoncampus.com/uh> for all sorts of food options (everything from McDonalds to sushi). Note that we are between semesters and not everything is open, but open times are indicated on the site.

Grocery Stores

Kroger 4000 Polk St, Houston, TX 77023. Nearby but not on train line (5-10 minute Uber). Traditional neighborhood grocery. Store serves what was a largely Hispanic and working class neighborhood (although rapidly gentrifying). Dollar Store next door if you need emergency homewares.

Phoenicia 1001 Austin St, Houston, TX 77010. Downtown and easy access by train <https://goo.gl/maps/tixZm8sk9YrSbZfz6> for directions via the train. This is the opposite of Kroger: more expensive, homemade pita bread by the ton, store-made hummus, babaganoush, muhammara, pastries, baguettes, cheeses, halal meats--you name it, if it is Eastern Mediterranean, they have a version of it. Lots of pre-prepared meals too. If the google maps directions above are not your thing, simply take the train towards downtown (Theater District), get off at Convention Center, and search "1001 Austin St." on your phone. It's a 5-7 minute walk from Convention Center. To return, go to the Convention Center train stop on Rusk St. (not Capitol Street) and take the Purple Line train (Palm Center) NOT the Green Line train (Magnolia Park). Disembark at UH South/University Oaks and you are right there.
