The Quad Townhomes are directly adjacent to Cougar Village II (cross the parking lot to the West). When taking Uber or similar from the airports, please use Cougar Village II as your destination (Quad Townhomes are new and not yet on Google or other maps).

On Monday 6th, We will leave from the UH Quad Townhomes at noon to arrive at the museum in plenty of time (Rex will be leading people on use of public transport). If you arrive after our scheduled start on Monday (6th), use this google map to get public transport or Uber to the Kinder Building of the museum and text 281-245-0120 if you have any issue finding the Kinder Building. Note that we will end up back at the University of Houston, at the School of Art, for the reception beginning at 5:30PM or so.
UH Quad Townhomes: Our Learning Community
Participants will have the opportunity to reside in the Quad Townhomes at the University of Houston (more information and photos here -- scroll down to Townhouse). Residents will have a private bedroom and an ample shared bath. Kitchens and study spaces abound. The Quad Townhouses are set up to be Learning Communities--just the thing for a meaningful experience with the other participants, should you want to take advantage. *The cost will be $38 night or a little more than $500 for the entire period of the institute.* Your NEH stipend ($2,200) will easily cover this cost and leave you adequate funds for travel, food and other costs.
Don't forget to bring towels, toiletries and linens (these are not supplied).
ARRIVAL: You may arrive on June 5 or 6. Check-in windows are June 5, 1 PM-4 PM and June 6, 11 AM-4:30 PM. Please note that activities begin at 1 PM on June 6. Please try to be ready to participate by June 6, 12:30 PM (and a short walk across campus to our first activities). An important introductory lecture begins at 3 PM on June 6. You won't want to miss this.

UH housing is directly on the light rail line with easy access to downtown and the museum district (the latter including MFAH).
Travel
Plan your own travel and reimburse yourself when you receive the stipend.
This allows you to come early, stay late, get the best deal, and not be burdened by significant bureaucratic processes around travel paid directly with federal funds.
