Launched in 2017, the PER approach provides a structured and standardised way to assess a National Society’s (NS) disaster preparedness systems and processes, creating a common language within the Movement on emergency preparedness.
The overall goal of the approach is to strengthen the NS’s preparedness and response capacities.
In practice, the approach involves a diagnostic mechanism to evaluate the NS’s preparedness capacities, which leads to the development of a National Society action plan aimed at reinforcing these capacities.
