The Rota file is online, available from anywhere at any time and on any platform (PC, laptop, tablet, smartphone). There is no excuse for "not knowing".
If your name is on the shift, you are expected to turn up regardless of any agreement, discussion or granted leave request. If you have an agreement for a swap or a leave, ensure the rota is updated. All agreement is final only after the Rota is updated. Not turning up for a shift is unacceptable, unprofessional and unfair to the team and jeopardizes patient safety.
The expected notice period for leaves and rota changes is six weeks. Swaps can happen with short notice.
Rota planning takes place 10-6 weeks before commencing the rota period (Aug-Dec; Dec-April; April-Aug).
Rolling rota will apply to trainee SHOs (FY2 and GPST1-2). Self-rostering is used for ST3-6 , ACPs, PAs and all Specialty doctors.
