Below are some general words I have about Woodworking. See individual tabs for the details of each project!
When I first learned that I would be taking Woodworking this year, I imagined myself using saws and screws and building things like chairs and doors. So, you can imagine my surprise when Ms. Bernstein announced that our first project would be a spoon. However, this is not to say that the class has not met my expectations. In fact, it has exceeded them. I love the hands-on-ness of the work and the freedom to make creative choices in my work. I never thought that I would be able to confidently operate a drill press, or be able to identify what type of tree a piece of wood came from just by looking at its color and grain pattern. Of course, my outlook is not this positive, like when I find myself sitting at my desk at home, hand-sanding for hours and getting dust all over the place. Anyways, that’s besides the point. I am glad that I took this class this year, and in this part of my Maker Portfolio you will find the different projects that I have created during it!
