Entries are only accepted via the online entry form. Anyone (e.g. DC, ADC, Scout Leader, PL or parent) can submit the entry form.
The entry process has been devised to ensure that places can be allocated fairly between districts. If you would like to attend, you should enter as soon as possible to maximise your chance of securing a place at the camp - see Entry Limits below.
There is no entry deadline as such, but the event may be cancelled if there are insufficient entries by 31st January 2021.
If you are intending to enter, but are not yet able to fully complete the form (e.g. because the Patrol members' names are not known), submit your entry now with 'to be advised' or similar in the unknown fields. The email addresses entered on the form will each receive a link allowing them to edit/update the entry later, to provide missing (or change existing) details. The email may be forwarded to others so that they can edit/update the form.
The entry fee is £60.00 per Patrol. Please send cheques to Pat Brown, 5 South Close, Gosport, PO12 2PS after your place has been confirmed, taking note of payment deadlines (see Entry Limits below). If you would prefer to pay by BACS, please email Pat Brown for details of the account number and sort code to use, and contact her again to confirm that you have made a payment.
There are 27 places (i.e. for 27 Patrols) available.
If there are less than 27 entries by 5th December, all will be offered a place at the camp and the entry system will remain open (on a first-come-first served basis, regardless of district) until the event is full.
If there are more than 27 entries by that date, places will be offered in order of receipt but with limits imposed on districts with the highest number of entries.
For example, if entries are received as follows:
District A: 7
District B: 15
District C: 2
District D: 10
Places would be offered as follows:
District A: 7
District B: 9
District C: 2
District D: 9
Thus districts B and D would have limits imposed, and the 9 places would be offered to the first 9 from each district to have entered. Those offered a place would have until 31st January to pay their entry fee to secure their place. The remainder would go on to a waiting list (in order of receipt) and be offered places in the event if others from their district fail to pay by the deadline or otherwise decline their place. Places offered via the waiting list would be available to take up (by paying the entry fee) until the end of the next calendar month.
An automatic email confirmation is issued (to all email addresses entered on the form) when the entry form is submitted. This is confirmation that the form has submitted correctly, not confirmation that a place has been offered. You will be contacted by email (to all email addresses entered on the form) soon after the 5th December to advise whether your application has been successful, or whether you are on the waiting list.
All Patrol members must be less than 14 and a half on the Sunday of the competition.
Patrols must be made up of either 4, 5 or 6 Scouts. If the Patrol system is used within the Troop, the Scouts do not have to be from the same Patrol (i.e. composite Patrols may be formed for the camp).
If less than 4 Scouts are interested in attending from your Troop, please contact Yeti to see if we can find a way to accommodate you.
Patrols must be accompanied by a leader (who will join the camp staff for the weekend). This leader could be from the same Troop, from another Troop in the District, or a member of the District team.
If there is no leader available to accompany the Patrol, please contact Yeti to see if we can find a way to accommodate you. Similarly if you are a Leader interested in attending, but there are no willing Scouts in your Troop/District.
Each patrol is required to have a home contact (details to be entered on the entry form) who can act on behalf of the Troop and/or District regarding:
Equipment (replacing or authorising changes to any piece of equipment that is faulty, broken or deemed unsafe by the Safety Officer.
Illness / Accident (be called upon to act according to the Scout Association Rules).
Misdemeanours (to act in conjunction with the camp staff to deal with any problems that may occur).
The home contact must not be part of the camp staff or related to any Patrol member (e.g. if the Scout Leader is a parent, they cannot be the home contact).
