My philosophy of education is that all students are capable of learning in a safe and engaging educational environment that allows them to focus on developing physical, mental, emotional, and social skills they need to thrive. I focus on accommodating students with a safe atmosphere where they are encouraged to be kind, express their stories and ideas, and celebrate diversity. Creating this type of space is crucial for students to reach their full academic potential.
I believe the library is the heart of any school and school librarians aim to be at the heart of student learning by facilitating interaction with information in all forms (Uselman, 2017). Each student must be provided with the appropriate technology, resources, and creative opportunities required for them to succeed at becoming lifelong learners. I also emphasize the importance of advocating for school library programs so that all students, regardless of their background, have equal access to information literacy instruction.
