While winter in the majority of Southern California might not be what we typically think, with blizzards or ice-covered roads, but the wetter conditions can still bring its own unique set of hazards to San Diego and Imperial Counties. While these incidents are rare, that doesn't mean they can't happen. In fact, they have become more frequent over the last few years as California was pummeled by atmospheric rivers. More often than not, they take us completely by surprise and the effects from these emergencies can have life-or-death consequences. We can't stop the emergency from happening, but what we can do is be as prepared as possible for them so that we know what steps to take to keep ourselves and our loved ones safe during a crisis.
