Minimum Standards for Instructors
○ Understands and embraces the model of embedded tutoring
○ Confirms their understanding of roles and expectations of embedded tutoring with both tutor and learning center professional (LCP) at least once every term they are active in the program
■ Understands the roles of the tutor, LCP, and instructor in a course with embedded tutoring
● Acknowledges that tutors are hired, trained, and supervised by the LCP, not the instructor
■ Contributes to setting communication expectations between the instructor, tutor, and LCP
○ Creates and facilitates the instructor-led space, where the tutor engages with students
○ Uses active learning pedagogy continually in course(s) with embedded tutor(s)
○ Collaborates with the tutor in the instructor-led space (across all modalities, including online asynchronous and face-to-face courses) to clarify course concepts and motivate students' participation and engagement
○ Allows for the tutor to have regularly scheduled attendance/engagement with the students in the instructor-led space
■ DURATION: The tutor should engage with students in the instructorled space for at least 75% of the course duration (e.g. in a 16-week course, a minimum of 12 of the 16 weeks)
■ FREQUENCY: The tutor engages with students in the instructor-led space at least once every other week throughout the duration of the course
○ Is accessible to the tutor outside the instructor-led space
○ Is open to feedback communicated by tutor and LCP about students’ learning in their course(s), and is willing to actively engage with constructive feedback
○ Communicates with LCP to provide feedback
