A Schengen visa is given to people who want to travel within Schengen zone, which constitutes 26 European nations ("Schengen States") without border controls between them. These countries are: Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. The Schengen area covers major countries of Europe, except for the United Kingdom and countries such as Bulgaria, Romania, Cyprus, Croatia and Ireland. Also, there are countries that are not a part of EU.
A Schengen visa is a short-stay visa that allows a person to travel to any members of the Schengen Area per stays up to 90 days for tourism or business purposes.
