Player Helicopter
The main thing I was working on during the 3 weeks was the Player Helicopter, which includes input, movement, helicopter collision, respawning and out of bounds.
The game is designed for kids so I tried make everything as bare-bone and simple as possible. The idea was not ruin the fun, but to provide consistent gameplay without stopping the player from moving. Adding some weight to the player's movement, and giving the option to boost speed at the risk of crashing, made the gameplay engaging and fun for the children.
Pickup and Drop Water
This feature could be considered part of the Player Helicopter but because I worked so much surrounding this it, it has its own section. I worked on the water bar UI, low water indicator UI and the mechanics for picking up and dropping water.
In this game project, we where tasked with making a game that works with a controller with limited inputs, 2 buttons. The player uses one button to pick up and drop water. When the water level gets too low, an indicator appears showing the closest water source on the map, allowing the player to replenish their water.
