Rapier (The Sword)
The Rapier was designed to be a straightforward and flexible weapon that designers can easily work with. Its core inspiration comes from Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, where timing, precision, and movement define the combat experience. The weapon’s collision is activated only during the key frames of an attack animation and disabled immediately afterward, which makes combat more dynamic and skill-based. This encouraging combos and dodges while enhancing the game's overall pace. If designers need to add new weapons, they only need to add animations and define the start and end frames for activating collision.
Saving System
The Saving system was my main task on the project. When the player interacts with the fountain, it creates a save file in the game folder which stores whatever data needed.
For more structured and readable code, all data is stored in a struct. This reduces the risk of data loss and makes saving and loading more efficient and easier to manage. Separate from the saving script, the functions can be called through a subsystem, which is easy to call from both C++ and Blueprint with minimal setup. This makes the system flexible and easy for designer to use.
BloodDoor
When interacted with, The BloodDoor takes a percentage of the player's blood health (seen in the far-left corner). It acts as a blockage, forcing the player to engage in combat to progress if they do not have enough blood.
