In project 2, I struggled with the placement, use, and theme of my multimodal elements. The placement was difficult because I did not want to make the page look crowded, but wanted to add as much multimodal and visual elements as possible. I feel that the placement of the first picture being associated with the title of the whole page and the second picture being associated with the specific post makes the beginning have just enough personality. The last thing that is then seen on the post is the video which is the last visual element that wraps up the post.
The use of the pictures that were used to describe the steps were all debated. There were suggestions of using pictures that had people demonstrating the actual steps that are being described. I decided to stick with pictures that were aesthetic with a theme of being fun and playful because this is how most lifestyle blogs decide on their pictures. They also give the general idea of the step with there still being room for interpretation by the reader to make the outcome their own.
Deciding the theme of the blog was also difficult because I needed to make it informative but still fun and appealing to college aged students. I used bright colors to emphasize the idea that it was a morning routine and the color yellow is associated with happiness and laughter. The pictures that were used are discussed in the paragraph above and why they were chosen.
I chose to used Google Sites as the platform for this project due to its accessibility and formats provided. There were other blog sites considered such as WordPress, Squarespace, and Wix. All of these sites did not have the formats I like. The video at the very end of the post was posted through YouTube to increase accessibility. I had a very hard time with the video and deciding how to film it and what to say due to the task being described is supposed to have leniency and room for interpretation. There was also a difficulty with trying to put all of the videos together and make it accessible to everyone.
