Loosely based off the spider flower; in Cleome ( a 2020 show at the Community Art Center of Oneonta in Oneonta, New York), elongated tendrils wind around ribboned bodies in paintings placed over a blue wallpaper. The tendrils, webbing embedded into the images, loosely mimic the curves of the silken figures underneath. They are spindly lines acting as second bodies, vascular systems built around frames that are too small. The veins spill over their ribboned confines and reinterpret the shape of their bindings as best they can.Â
