Bulging and intestine, in Beyond Bounds (a 2019 show at the University of Iowa in the Levitt Gallery) green forms, grotesque in shape but beautiful in color and vibrancy, create patterns that expand and engulf a room. In the thickets are borderless prints; intermittent interventions within the patterned background. Seemingly emerging from the pattern but also being engulfed by it. These woodcut and chine-collé prints were created from the wallpaper pattern, reimagined at an angle, with new shapes and patterns integrated into the image. The prints contain phantom torsos built in three sections: breasts, belly, and pelvis. While the torsos are confined by the edge of the page, the twisted patterns behind them escape the bounds of the paper to envelop the entire wall.
