Students will be able to: Differentiate between big and small and learn about perspective 🍁
We began class with a discussion of big things and small things. I asked the class for some examples of each. I then asked them if the school was big, if I was big, and if they were big. They were able to answer "yes" pretty easily to all of those questions. Then I asked them if they're big compared to me. They answered "no". I asked them "How about to a baby?"; they said "yes". I explained to them that it's all about perspective, which is the way that you see things. Things that seem small to someone, may seem big to someone else. I asked them if they thought that leaves were big. They said "no". I asked them, "Well, how about for a bug?". They said "yes". I told them that to a bug, the leaf may seem like the size of the entire room. For this project, we made our own "big" leaves and "small" bugs", by first rubbing a leaf onto our paper with crayon, and then drawing a tiny bug with marker.
