The district purchased land north of La Toska restaurant to support the future expansion of the L. Kim Lewis Auxiliary Services Facility, ensuring CHISD can continue to meet its growing operational and transportation needs. Planned improvements to the Transportation Facility include:
Additional shop bays for vehicle maintenance and repairs
A new fuel station for district vehicles
A dedicated bus wash, eliminating the need for off-site cleaning
CHISD has continued to invest in its bus fleet:
Fall 2025 Purchase: Seven (7) new buses were purchased and delivered in January 2026, including:
Three 54-passenger buses
Four 77-passenger buses
Spring 2026 Purchase: Ten (10) additional buses were purchased with an anticipated delivery date of August 2026, including:
Three Special Education (SPED) 54-passenger buses
Seven 77-passenger buses
