IMCO changes Elden Ring big way, shifting it into hack n slash territory. It main feature is the possibility to cancel animations way earlier, so you can chain actions faster. It also adds mobility options and an expanded strategy component with gear selection and affinities interaction. These are the general details:
Overall overhaul for all attack animations
** (Currently only for melee and physical ranged attacks. Magic attacks will be overhauled in a future).
All modded attacks now can be cancelled earlier and you can dodge/dash cancel attack animations at most of it frames, being the wind up or the recovery ones. Cancelling the hit frames is not allowed though, so you still have to time your attacks, but with way more leniency than when playing vanilla ER.
Lot of attack animations have been sped up also, to ensure a faster paced gameplay, and to allow a more realistic performance for some of the weapons that were oddly slow in vanilla ER (I.E. Thrus Weapons, Fists, Claws, Daggers... ).
Strategical interaction with gear weight and affinities
Each player weight category (light, medium, heavy weighted) will have its own perks, so you have to choose between different builds that feel unique. Infusing with physical affinities changes weapon weight, and other related params, so the heavier the weapons, the more output power but also the more slower, and viceversa. Infusing weapons with Physical Affinities (Heavy, Quality, Keen and Occult) affects weapon weight and weapon performance. More info in Affinities section.
Additional combat tech
On top of those two main features, there are several improvements that allow new combat tech, like:
Sekiro Dashes: Light Weight Rolls have been replaced with Sekiro Dash animation. This animation also allows early cancel into some other actions or attacks.
Timed Block: Blocking attacks at the very last moment grants 100% Guard Boost (no stamina drain) and a massive damage reduction for all damage types.
Feint Attacks: You can use the dodge cancel to feint charged R2 attacks, cancelling them during the charge animation, or any other attack, dodge cancelling it wind up.
Quick weapon swap: Now you can swap weapons as fast as you can press the weapon swap button.
Throwing objects cancel: Now you can cancel attack animations throwing daggers, darts, stones, or pots.
Improved Weapon Arts repertoire: (Work in progress) There are many new Weapon Arts, and most of the old ones have been modified. Some of them gain additional features (like being able to parry) and their animations have been sped up to allow better integraton into combos.
