Justin Castaneda is a writer and illustrator from the south side of Chicago. He studied animation at the Illinois Institute of Art in Schaumburg where he earned his degree in Media Art. He is the creator of When I Was Little children's picture book series and the hardcover children's book, HEART. He has worked for such titles as Aw Yeah Comics, Scratch 9, and Albert The Alien. His new book, When We Were Little, is a collection of childhood memories featuring artists from all over the Midwest.
Daab Creative
Luke Daab, of Daab Creative, is a designer and illustrator based in Chicago. He draws his inspiration from Jim Henson, J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Bill Waterson, and George Lucas. He is currently an illustrator and a designer for McDonald’s Corporation where he has worked on the HappyMeal.com and McWorld.com websites and the McPlay app. He has also worked for DC Comics, Warner Brothers, Dreamworks, Blue Sky Studios, Fox Studios, Mattel Mattel, Hasbro, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Coca-Cola, Southwest Airlines, and Kellogg’s.

Jackie is a local illustrator based in Elk Grove Village. She enjoys all things Star Wars, Marvel, Sherlock, Ghibli Japanese animation, Avatar: The Last Airbender series, Benedict Cumberbatch, Supernatural … and the list goes on! Her favorite ways to create are digitally and traditionally with watercolor and ink. She also likes tea and Korean food, and there’s no such thing as too much pie!

Rafael Nieves is a graphic designer who creates pieces inspired by his love of art deco, WPA, propaganda, vintage advertising, typography, and movie posters. He is also a veteran comic book writer with over 30 years’ experience. He began his career with the publication of Tales from the Heart, which spawned two full-color one-shots published by Marvel Comics' creator-owned label, Epic Comics, and the latter book, Bloodlines, was nominated for two Eisner Awards. He is the author of The Apocalypse Plan; Bob Howard: Plumber of the Unknown, and many other titles. Recently, he self-published the first volume in a collection of reprinted, short comic book stories, called Forgotten Lore.
Princess Etch
Jane, aka Princess Etch, is a full-time Etch A Sketch artist. She started playing with an Etch A Sketch at 4 years old and never stopped! Originally from Michigan, Jane moved to Chicago to pursue a BFA in Illustration at the American Academy of Art. Her art has taken all over the US, as well as Paris and India. Notable clients include Disney, Cartoon Network, MTV, and Toys R Us. Notable shout-outs include the Art Institute of Chicago, Britney Spears, and Pee-wee Herman.
James is an aspiring, self-taught cartoonist who learned most of his techniques from comics and animated cartoons. He majored in graphic arts in college and took drawing lessons from the District 214 Community Education center under the teachings of Eileen Jorgensen.
Art of the Tinman
Joe "Tinman" Tinaglia attended the Art Institute of Chicago before becoming an art teacher. He has self-published dozens of graphic novels and web comics. He can be found tabling at many Midwest comic conventions. Not content to simply draw all manner of fan art - he had to become it himself! In 2015 he entered the world of cosplay. He tours comic cons primarily in the Midwest with Midwesteros, a Game of Thrones cosplay group, and MidWestWorld, a West World cosplay group.
