Laulima Submissions

Laulima submission will need to be packaged a certain way. This will allow me to run bash scripts to automate my grading workflow. Otherwise, grading will be too time consuming for any person. Luckily, we are all programmers who will be able to solve these problems.

1. First, create a folder with all files that need to be submitted. Follow each lab guideline for what you need to submit.

for example create Folder1/ and put all your files to submit in Folder1/

2. Then we will compress our files in double layer format:

• .tar.gz.
  • .tar means that a “(t)ape (ar)chive” was first created using the tar command
  • .gz means that the file was then compressed using the gzip command
• To compress a file or directory:
  • tar czf <output-file> <input-file-or-directory>
  • example with my username(manloloy) and submitting Folder1/ from step 1
    • tar czf manloloy.tar.gz Folder1/
• To uncompress the .tar.gz file:
  • tar xf <input-file>
  • NOTE: you will get an error when you uncompress if the folder already exists where you perform an uncompress.

3. Compress your folder (the one named your username)

4. Upload the Compressed File to the Laulima site for the appropriate assignment. (example your lab 1 compressed files should be uploaded to the assignment for Lab 1. Same for Lab 2, Homework 1, etc...
