Phase 1: Research Study 1 - Chapter 3 (8 STEPS)
Step1: Writing of Research Design Section:
This section explains your overall research approach – is it quantitative, qualitative, or mixed? You’ll justify your choice and show how it aligns with your research questions and objectives.
Step 2: Writing of Research Procedure Section:
Here, you describe the step-by-step process of how your study will be carried out. Think of it like a research SOP — clear, logical, and easy to replicate.
Step 3: Writing of Population and Samples Section:
You’ll define who your target group is (the population) and explain how you’ll select your participants (sampling). This helps show your research is grounded and purposeful.
Step 4: Writing of Research Instrumentation:
Whether it's a survey, interview guide, or observation checklist – this section details the tools you'll use to collect data. You’ll also explain why these tools are suitable and how they were developed or adapted.
Step 5: Writing of Pilot Study Section:
A pilot study helps you test your instruments before the real data collection. Here, you’ll describe how it was conducted and what improvements were made based on the results.
Step 6: Writing of Data Analysis Section:
This is where you explain how you plan to make sense of your data. Whether you’re using SPSS, thematic coding, or both – outline your techniques clearly and match them with your objectives.
Step 7: Creating A Summary Table of Data Analysis:
A summary table helps readers (and your examiner!) see your methodology at a glance. It should include design, sampling, instruments, and analysis – all in one compact view.
Step 8: Writing of Research Ethics Section and Planning:
Here you’ll explain how you plan to protect your participants' rights and privacy. You’ll include details like informed consent, confidentiality, and approval procedures (like getting clearance from UTM).
