Use Teaching Channel to complete the video-based portion of your field placement hours. Follow the steps below, watch the correct course playlist, take your guided notes, and document your hours.
Teaching Channel is a required resource for EDUC 1301 and 2301 courses.
You may split your 16 hours between face-to-face classroom hours and approved video-based hours.
Video-hour limit: No more than 8 hours of video-based hours will be accepted unless an extenuating circumstance is approved by the lab instructor.

Students cannot purchase the subscription directly from Teaching Channel.
Purchase it through the Collin College Bookstore.
You may use the Cougar Book Bundle (CBB) and financial aid, if applicable.
If you opt out of Cougar Book Bundle, purchase Teaching Channel through the Collin bookstore.
Register your Teaching Channel account using your Collin College email.
Important: Do not register with a personal email. Your subscription must be registered with your Collin email.
Log in to Teaching Channel using your Collin email and the password you created.
Then select Playlists at the top of the Teaching Channel page.
Do not choose videos randomly from the entire Teaching Channel library. Start with the playlist that matches your course.
EDUC 1301
Select the Collin: EDUC 1301 playlist.
EDUC 2301
Select the playlist assigned to your course. Your instructor may identify optional videos that can be used toward lab hours.
EDUC 2301-2
The required playlist is Collin: EDUC 2301-2. It contains 64 videos; you only need to watch the required 4 hours.
For EDUC 2301, your required Teaching Channel video hours must address these student populations/topics:

Bilingual education
Gifted & Talented
Special Education
Poverty
Use the curated playlist your instructor provides so you know which videos count for each population.
As you watch, answer the guided notes questions for the videos you complete.
Tip: Take notes while watching rather than trying to reconstruct your answers later.

Complete the guided notes questions.
Complete the hour log sheet with your video hours.
Download the video transcript after watching.
Submit the transcript with the hour log form assignment.
Make sure your logged hours match the videos you actually completed.
