Highlights of 2019

The 2019 school year was one to remember for Liberty Preparatory school thanks to all of your generous donations. We truly can't say thank you enough! Here are a few of the major highlights:

35 students gave their life to Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
A building of 3 new classrooms was completed.
Around 95 students were educated with many of them participating in spiritual programs, evangelism training, daily prayers, and Sunday worship services.
5 pigs were purchased (4 are pregnant and due in January/February).
Construction began on a new girl's dorm ($14,000 of $30,000 raised).
2 female calves were born to increase the number of cows to 6.
The poultry project started at the end of 2018 continues to do well.

December 18, 2019

Thanks to some very generous donations, $4,000 has been used to start the construction of the girl's dorm. Ministry of Education officials are scheduled to visit the school in February. The goal is to get as much of the dorm funded and completed by then as possible. The total cost will be around $30,000.

URGENT NEED!!

The Ministry of Education in Uganda inspected the school and determined students don't have the required dorm space. Students are currently sleeping in 3-tier bunk beds. They have given the school until the end of 2020 to build 2 new dorms (one for boys and one for girls) The initial estimate for each dorm is $30,000 each for a total of $60,000. If this project is not completed by the end of 2020 then the number of students attending the school will have to be reduced until the school is able to meet this requirement.

November 23, 2019

Liberty has received TWO blessings in the last couple of weeks from two of their cows named Senior Blessing and Junior Blessing. Two healthy female calves were born to increase the total number of the herd to 6 cows. This will help provide more milk to the students at Liberty in the coming months and years.

October 26, 2019

Every academic term Liberty has one official day for parents to visit the school. On Saturday, October 26th, despite heavy rains many parents managed to attend. It was a chance for parents to assess their kids performance, receive discipline reports and to meet with their child's teacher. The day ended with games between staff and parents.

September 21, 2019

In the spring, Liberty was able to finish building a block of 3 classrooms; however, there wasn't enough money for windows and doors. This week thanks to generous donations, metallic windows and doors were installed on the new three classroom block that accommodates Primary Five this year and Primary Six next school year plus a new staff room.

August 20, 2019

During a school break, Pastor John and his family went on a gospel mission (mission trip). They ministered to a village in Hoito, Kenya. They shared the gospel and met this 95 year old mother who serves Jesus and still reads the Bible without glasses.

August 12, 2019

Work was completed on repairing the pig stys and 5 pigs were purchased with money from Grace Heartland Church's Vacation Bible School. 4 of the 5 pigs are now pregnant and expecting piglets in January/February 2020. The pigs don't require special expertise to raise and they will be profit making for the school. One of the dreams is to create a model farm project for the school that nearby farmers would be able to come and learn from Liberty. The addition of the pigs is another step in that direction.

August 5, 2019

This past week Pastor John ordered the pigs purchased with money from Grace Heartland's Vacation Bible School. The school is currently making repairs on the pig sty to prepare for the new additions.

The most exciting news is that seven students committed their lives to Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior this past Sunday, August 4th. One girl by the name of Clare, amazed Pastor John and everyone in the worship service when she loudly stood up and said, "Pastor, before you close the service I beg you to pray for me to receive Jesus Christ as my Savior".

July 16, 2019

Today, the students at Liberty received cards made by kids at Grace Heartland Church in Kentucky. The GHC kids wrote messages and drew pictures on the cards. The students at Liberty were so excited to receive these cards. We are so grateful for the investment that the kids at Grace Heartland have made in Liberty school over the last 2 years.

June 30, 2019

On Sunday June 30th, the students at Liberty had a special service with the Church that meets at the school. They had a time of prayer to thank the Almighty God for taking them through the first half of 2019. They also had prayers for a blessed second half of the year.

June 11, 2019

During the summer of 2018, the kids attending Vacation Bible School at Grace Heartland raised money to buy chickens for Liberty School. This summer the students at Liberty put together a song and a skit for the kids attending the 2019 Vacation Bible School.

The first video shows the eggs that are now being given by the chickens.

The second video is thanking the GHC kids for the money they were raising during this years Vacation Bible School that went towards buying pigs.

The picture shows the display set up at GHC during Vacation Bible School as the boys and girls tried to see who could bring in the most money for pigs.

May 2019

In May, the school held night prayers to end the month in style. During this time prayers were conducted outside in the open Ugandan air. The teachers made fire from pieces of wood and they reminded the kids of how traditional African communities used to teach at night and from outside.

April 2019

In April, as part of the regular evangelism training, students and teachers visited a sick elderly man in their community. They cleaned his compound by digging, slashing and sweeping.

February/March 2019

The school continues to grow, pawpaws, cassava and bananas to support the daily feeding budget for the students. The school also has two cows that provide a little milk for the students and chickens that produce 65 eggs on average. This allows students to eat an egg twice a week.

Three big spiritual activities happened in February and March.

1. The school hosted a group of pastors to pray and interact with the students and staff.

2. Liberty is a boarding school and parents visited their students to assess their academic progress, had games like netball, tug-o-war, running between parents and staff. The students were also able to enjoy lunch with food their parents brought.

3. Liberty puts an emphasis on spiritual programs. The students have prayers three times a day, a Bible study once a week, and night prayers once a week. There are currently 12 students in a prayer warrior group that fast and pray every Thursday.

In March, 28 students gave their life to Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior!!!!
