This video shows John and Grace Walusimbi describing their ministry at Liberty.
Pastor John Walusimbi and his wife Grace, run Liberty Preparatory School, in a village just outside of Masaka, Uganda. It’s a boarding primary school for grades 1-7. His school truly serves the “least of these” with students who would have to walk up to two hours to school each day, many of them without shoes. He takes in many kids whose families can’t afford government or privately run schools and allows them to pay a small percentage, or they can even pay with beans and rice. Students not only get an academic education, but he teaches students practical skills like raising animals and farming techniques. Pastor John uses animals at the school (cows, pigs, and chickens) to help offset food costs for the students.
Most importantly Pastor John incorporates the gospel of Jesus throughout the school and the curriculum. He understands that Jesus and an education are truly the only hope that these kids have for a future. He embodies the concept of “praying without ceasing” because you can’t talk to him without Jesus coming up in the conversation.
