EdWordle is an online word cloud generator tool. This tool can be used to generate fun and creative word clouds for lessons and class presentations as well as signage and imagery. It offers a simple and easy to use interface where users can simple type the list of words they would like to appear in the word cloud. While not as feature rich EdWordle is a quick and simple alternative to Wordle, a once popular tool that offered similar outcomes, however is no longer available.

While EdWordle seems like just a tool to create lists of words in a more graphical way the concept that words with more importance appear larger as well as the ability to dynamically create the content puts this tool as a tool on the augmentation level of the SAMR model. It offers the ability to redesigning the task of reviewing vocabulary or content terms with significant functional improvement.

5th grade ELA students use this word cloud as a tool when identify vocabulary terms in readings that they are completing. As they see a word in their readings appear more often they rank the importance of that word higher and update the word cloud to reflect that such that words that appear more often are larger then those that don't. This ultimately becomes a great resource for those students.
