BrainPOP Jr. is an online video database offering kid friendly educational videos that are short in length but very engaging for younger learners. Videos cover a variety of topics from across many subject areas and are animated with characters that younger students will find interesting. Each video teaches students interesting facts that tie back to many Common Core curriculum standards. After each video there are activities that students can complete that further reinforce the topics covered within the video. Due to the consistency of the videos and characters that appear within them this database offers much more value then other videos found on youtube or other video platforms.

These activities create a much richer and engaging learning experience, When consistently integrating BrainPOP Jr. into the general class flow the tool can touch on higher levels of the SAMR model.
The benefits of BrainPOP Jr. are great for students who learn better as visual learners or for those that need to be engaged with videos. It's also a great way for students to move at different paces since videos can be watched and rewatched. When using the videos as part of normal instruction andt to introduce topics as they are covered students make a connection to the characters as they are consistent from video to video.

The animated nature of these videos and the voicing makes these videos and activities great for younger learners frome Grades K-3. There are many topics covered in these videos and using these videos as a way to start off the week is a great way to implement BrainPOP Jr. Students can watch the video on their own as a homework assignment in class and come to have a class discussion around what was covered in the video.

1st, 2nd and 3rd grade teachers in our Elementary schools use BrainPOP Jr. to introduce ELA concepts in the beginning of the week. They then are asked to complete the activities related to the lesson to further reinforce ELA skills such as creating and identifying compound words These activities serve as an assessment to gage student comprehension and understanding. Teachers will oftentimes reference the characters in the video to reinforce the lesson.
