Peer tutoring with Adobe Connect - Professor Peter Reimann shows how peer-to-peer tutoring can be incorporated into a blended or online unit of study using a web conferencing system such as Adobe Connect. Peter is professor of Education within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, University of Sydney.

University-supported

• Adobe Connect - A web conferencing tool that allows a group to meet online. It provides options to set up a room with audio, video, chat, document sharing or shared whiteboard tools. Each participant attends by logging on from their own computer and using their own webcam and headset microphone. More information at University ICT Services.

Unsupported

• Skype - Host a class text or video chat for up to 25 people. To create a live session: 1. Start a new Skype conversation well in advance of the class so you can send around the link. 2. Grab the web address from the top of the conversation window and share it with the class (eg. via LMS). 3. In the settings for that conversation, tick “Make the chat history visible to everyone” so people entering late can scroll back through the past comments. (free)
• Google Hangouts - Up to 10 people can meet virtually using their own computer's microphone and webcam. It also allows you to broadcast your own video to an unlimited number of people which can be useful for live Q&A sessions where the audience submits questions via text chat. (free)
