Hedograms

The description of how to temporally "feed" the ears with notes, how to create preparatory anticipation with melodies that are in themselves sluggish, and how, on the contrary, to press the mind with pleasure with incisive passages, is encoded in the stave. This is a means of creating sensual pleasure that can, in principle, be extended to other sensual domains. In the latter case, it seems appropriate to speak of an hedogram.

Both the stave and the hedogram use a time scale. But while the former is limited to musical notes and a few other stylistic cues, the hedogram extends the domain to other sensory or cognitive experiences.

The stave is therefore a subset of the hedogram, since the latter, being limited to the auditory dimension, could also be composed only of notes.
