Back when I was just starting my career in digital marketing, I had an abundance of enthusiasm, ideas bubbling up, and a hunger to create. But, like many at the beginning of their journey, I was also juggling other jobs to pay the bills. That’s how I met Rekha Matthew, through a completely unrelated role. We clicked instantly, stayed in touch, and months later, she reached out with an idea.
Rekha, a certified 200-hour Ashtanga yoga trainer with an MSc and a master’s degree in Sport and Exercise Science, wanted to share her yoga expertise with the world, through video. She had a clear vision of what she wanted to demonstrate, but questions remained: Where should we film? How should it look? When would be the best time? What about editing? Music?
Together, we figured it all out.
📍 Location: We wanted something grand, timeless, and visually striking. Leeds Town Hall, a 19th-century architectural masterpiece was the perfect backdrop.
🎥 Filming: A Nikon Alpha, a gimbal, and careful planning. We waited for a sunny day to capture the best contrast.
✂️ Editing: At the time, I didn’t have access to premium editing software, but I made the most of what was available. Turns out, resourcefulness goes a long way!
🎶 Music: Rekha knew Jayakrishnan Unnithan (@jay.unnithan), who composed a bespoke piece to match the rhythm of the video perfectly.
And because I never let an opportunity slip by, we also squeezed in a photoshoot that day, because why not? It was intense, it was rewarding, and Rekha was an absolute star to work with.
Looking back, there are a million things I’d do differently now, that’s the beauty of experience. But what remains unchanged is the joy of collaborating, creating something meaningful, and, most importantly, forming a friendship along the way.
The video wasn’t just a project. It was a milestone. And, for me, the start of something much bigger.
It all started with a quote.
During a beautiful scene in the sci-fi Netflix series Sense8, Amanita — one of my favourite characters said something that hit me instantly. It wasn’t just a line; it was a truth I had felt but never put into words.
"We live in a world that distrusts feelings. Over and over, we are reminded that feelings are not as important as reason. That feelings are childish, irresponsible, dangerous. We are taught to ignore them, control them, or deny them... But I know that feelings matter.[...] However, if you’re lucky, I mean, really lucky, a feeling comes along that will change everything.[...] And I trust this feeling more than I have trusted anything in my life."
I didn't like the idea that reason and feelings are treated as opposites, as if you can only have one or the other. Nothing could be further from the truth. They belong together. Reason and intuition complement each other. We need both.
Life keeps teaching us this lesson in different forms: most things don’t exist in isolation. It’s not just one thing that makes a difference, but a combination: of people, factors, perspectives, skills. Balance is everything. And we are strongest when we learn to draw from both logic and emotion, from intellect and instinct.
That’s how this video came to life. Nothing too fancy, just a girl navigating life, learning, growing, and trying to turn her experiences into something meaningful.
Because if there’s one thing I believe, it’s this: Make art out of your life.
Working with a steel manufacturer, I’ve had the pleasure of bringing many collaborations to life, but our recent partnership with a distributor stands out as a fantastic example of teamwork, innovation, and the commitment to training excellence. Together, we developed a comprehensive training programme for decking fixings, designed to equip professionals with essential knowledge in this specialised area.
As the manufacturer’s representative on set, I had the privilege of witnessing this collaboration evolve from concept to reality. The preparation alone involved countless hours of planning, sourcing the perfect decking profiles, structuring the training, meticulously crafting a 24-page script, and coordinating every element of the production. Seeing my script unfold in the studio, brought to life by a dedicated team, was incredibly rewarding.
Being on set was exhilarating, there’s nothing like watching a project come together firsthand. Collaborating with a distributor allowed us to address key industry challenges, from regulatory changes to environmental considerations, all while expanding opportunities for growth and professional development.
This project reminded me of everything I enjoy about my work, the chance to be creative, collaborate meaningfully, and deliver valuable resources to our industry.
I had the pleasure of being part of an exciting partnership project with Trimble Tekla UK, setting a new benchmark in industry collaboration. By combining a steel manufacturer’s advanced connection solutions with Tekla’s powerful BIM software, this partnership is all about streamlining construction projects for better efficiency and success.
My involvement was hands-on from start to finish. I coordinated the filming locations within our warehouse and office, ensuring each segment aligned with the story we wanted to tell. I also organised the key people to feature in the video, showing Trimble around our facility to capture the best aspects of day-to-day innovation. This experience was a little different for me—while I’m usually behind the scenes, this time I was invited to appear on camera at the Trimble office. A fun and memorable twist that added a personal touch to the project!
The collaboration video showcases the synergy between our two teams and highlights how our joint solutions can transform construction workflows. The Trimble team was fantastic to work with, and their video editing really brought the vision to life. The result? A captivating look at what this partnership brings to the industry.
