Quality Improvement

Continuous Quality Improvement or CQI is a process of identifying problems and implementing strategies to fix the problems. The simple process that I can apply in my teaching career is that: 1) Identify area for improvement, 2) Come out with strategy for improvement, and 3) Assess whether the strategy is successful or not.

In my context as an educator, I always improve myself in terms of content and pedagogical knowledge. Starting as a lecturer without a strong teaching background is a quite challenging path for everyone. Therefore, I always take initiative to attend trainings provided by the University/School and attending online courses regarding teaching. Nowadays, learning is not limited to face-to-face meetings alone, but it also can be done from the internet such as Youtube and online articles.

I also improve my T&L technique using the survey I make on my students. For example, one student asked me to give more examples on current issues during lectures. Another student asked me to engage more with students at the back rows. There were few students asking me to give more time during their online quizzes. I read all those comments and will implement accordingly. For me, asking students' opinion on our T&L skills is one of the best tools in quality improvement process.
