Delivery & Assesments

I normally complement the traditional lecture with online learning. The traditional lecture involves teaching and discussion in class. Students are asked with the related questions during the lecture. I randomly pick the student names using online application as well as student name list. I use this style to ensure that they are focused in class and understand what I talk. For online learning, I use UUM Online Learning, Microsoft Teams, and Youtube videos uploaded in Edpuzzle application. I also use other apps such Padlet and Flipgrid for students to give opinions.

For assesments, I use UUM Online Learning Portal to give quizzes and assesments. I also utilize third party applications such as Edpuzzle, Socrative, Quizlet, and Kahoot to give questions in a more interactive way.

Teaching & Learning Innovation

Since this is the first year of my academic career, there is fairly limited innovation in my T&L activities. I am still familiarising myself with the pedagogical knowledge. Nevertheless, I still consider myself as a person that knows how to use technology in education.

For the second semester, I have started to adopt technologies in my T&L activities. I have learned a lot from the postgraduate program in higher education teaching and learning I have enrolled in the School of Education and Modern Languages.

There are many tools have been developed to enhance T&L experience. These tools are useful to provide more interactive learning experience to students. In line with the current trend of IR4.0 and Education 4.0, the use of technologies has become the bread and butter in higher education T&L activities.

Among the innovation that I have introduced is to present their assignments using Flipgrid application. This apps allows the students to record their own video and present their assignment content. The video can be watched by all the pariticipants in the specific virtual room.

Apart from that, I also ask the students to join my class in Edpuzzle application. This application is ideal to ensure the students watch our lecture videos without skipping. We can even ask questions while the video is playing.

For managing class more effectively, I use Microsoft Teams with my students to spread the information and to assign coursework.

Although these are only basic activities, I am looking forward to invent many more interesting T&L activites throughout my career in academia.

Pleas keep your eyes with my latest updates on my T&L innovations.
