Overview
This week wraps up the first Skill Development Project focused on a consideration of philosophical and technological frameworks for integrating digital technology into the classroom earning environments. This module has teacher candidates investigating the use of digital tools as mind tools in their classroom, ultimately identifying content specific tools, or other online programs that are free and open to support their content goals and objectives in the classroom, while they continue to answer five philosophical questions for their educational technology philosophy on their Digital Resume.
The philosophical questions "What is Good Teaching, What is Good Learning" are addressed with this module for your Philosophy and through Minor Project 2.
ISTE Standards Addressed this Module: 2.1 Learner, 2.4 Collaborator, 2.5 Designer 2.6 Facilitator
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of this week, students can:
Explain how the use of digital tools as "mindtools" in the classroom allow for critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creation.
Identify websites that contain information and tools they can use in their classroom to engage, enhance and extend learning.
Consider the ISTE standards in relation to their own thinking, identifying areas of needed growth and success.
Consider how digital tools provide students with opportunities to move beyond lower order thinking to higher order thinking within Blooms Taxonomy.

Part I: Concept Mapping an Article
1. Read the article below - it is actually only 22 Double Spaced Pages, not 30. It is an easy read, and helps to provide a look at how digital tools can open classrooms for learning.
Do you know the way to Web 2.0.pdf
2. Using one of the concept mapping programs below, create a concept map of the article above. Please look at all of the options first - then select the one that seems to be useful or in line with you and your thinking.
3. Submit your concept map to me via a Google Document, or shared via email in the program - using
UDCBRUEWER@GMAIL.COM
Part II: Exploring other Webtools
Please peruse the following links and explore some of the tools presented- JUST LOOK AT THEM! Start to think about your content area, your pedagogical approach, and which tools may make sense to use in your learning environment! This is an EXPLORATORY EXERCISE - look for content specific tools. What is available for your knowledge base?
