SUMMARY
Bulk Rename Helper helps you clean up and transform lists of text (for example filenames, titles, or lines you paste) and copy or save the result. The extension does not send your text, browsing activity, or extracted page content to our servers—we do not operate a backend for this extension. Processing happens on your device inside Chrome.
INFORMATION THE EXTENSION PROCESSES
Depending on how you use the extension, it may process:
1. Text you provide — Content you type or paste into the extension popup, text you send via the context menu (“Send selected text to Bulk Rename Helper”), and text produced by rename/clean operations.
2. Clipboard — When you use paste or copy, the extension reads or writes the system clipboard only when you trigger those actions, subject to Chrome and your OS permissions.
3. Optional page extraction — If you use Extract features, the extension reads visible link text, image alternate (alt) text, and image URL-derived filenames from the active tab’s page only when you click the extract button. It does not continuously monitor pages.
4. Tab titles — If you extract tab titles, the extension reads titles of tabs in your current Chrome window to build a list you can rename. It does not read tab URLs unless they appear indirectly in scraped link/image data from the page as described above.
5. Settings — Your preferences (for example prefix/suffix defaults, find/replace fields, clean options, numbering options, live preview) are stored with Chrome’s sync storage API (chrome.storage.sync) and may sync across signed-in Chrome instances per Google’s sync rules.
A short-lived buffer may hold text you sent from the context menu using Chrome session storage (chrome.storage.session) until the popup reads it once; it is not used for analytics.
HOW WE USE INFORMATION
• Operate the features you request — Transforms, copy, downloads, extraction, and context-menu handoff.
• Remember your settings — Via Chrome sync storage.
We do not use this extension to build advertising profiles, sell data, or run third-party analytics in the extension code.
WHERE DATA GOES
• Your lists and rename results while using the popup — Stays local in the extension popup unless you copy them or save a file.
• Clipboard — Your system clipboard when you explicitly paste or copy.
• Exported TXT or CSV — A file you choose through Chrome’s download dialog on your computer.
• Settings — Google’s infrastructure only as implemented by Chrome sync storage (chrome.storage.sync), subject to your Google account and Chrome sync settings.
• Context-menu handoff — Temporary session storage in Chrome on your device (chrome.storage.session).
There is no separate account or login for this extension provided by the publisher.
THIRD PARTIES
• Google / Chrome — Hosts Chrome, the Chrome Web Store, and (if enabled) Chrome Sync for synced extension settings. See Google’s privacy documentation for how sync and Chrome handle data.
The extension does not embed remote analytics software development kits or call publisher-controlled servers as part of normal operation described in this policy.
DATA RETENTION
• Popup text exists only while the popup is open (or until you clear it); the extension does not upload it for storage on publisher servers.
• Synced settings persist according to Chrome sync until you change or remove them.
• Downloaded files remain on your device until you delete them.
YOUR CHOICES
• Avoid extracting link/image data or tab titles if you do not want those sources used.
• Do not use paste or copy if you do not want clipboard interaction.
• Disable Chrome sync or manage extension sync in Chrome settings if you do not want settings stored in chrome.storage.sync.
• Remove the extension at any time via Chrome’s extensions page (chrome://extensions).
CHILDREN
This extension is a general-purpose productivity tool and is not directed at children under 13 (or the age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through this extension.
