After rehearsing the memory verse and deciding on hand motions, students sketch the verse by scene. This is a fun learning activity that will promote understanding of Bible memory verses. I have researched several ways to help students connect with their weekly spelling words. Above are three of my favorites, each targeting the spelling words from various directions.
Using the spelling words in a sentence helps students remember the word's meaning. The more times they use the word, the more times they will see it helping them to form long-term memory of the spelling and vocabulary of the word.
When students put spelling words into alphabetical order, they have to pay close attention to each letter of the word. Having the students identify the vowels by highlighting them reminds them of the phonics in each word, which helps in spelling the words.
Pyramid spelling involves the students spelling each word from one letter to two letters to three letters and so on. This can help them remember the order of the letters in each spelling word.
Students will be exposed to the weekly spelling words by the end of each week in various ways. This helps them build more connections with the words, leading to long-term memory.
