Competitors who go out of bounds will first receive a warning, then a point to the other person, then finally a disqualification if it happens a third time.
No parents coaching at all. Sideline instructors may however remind competitors of generic advice such as keeping hands up and moving their feet. Cheering is encouraged.
Target Areas include padded headgear, face shield (if applicable), front of the torso and the ribs under the arms.
For Black Belts, light face contact is allowed.
A warning will be given to competitors who strike the face in underbelt divisions. A second offense is a disqualification.
Legal Techniques include punches, kicks, kicks to the legs with intention to block and front foot to front foot boot sweeps. Spinning/jumping kicks are allowed with an expectation of control and an understanding that falling leaves the competitor vulnerable to attack.
For Black Belts, legal techniques also include kicks to the legs, any leg sweeps, take downs and grabs. Sweeps, takedowns and grabs cannot score points and should only be done with the intention to set up a point. THROWING THE OPPONENT IN AN UNCONTROLLED MANNER IS NOT ALLOWED.
Equipment requirement includes:
Head Gear covering the front, sides and back of the head with a soft padded surface. A face shield is optional.
Hand pads with a soft surface covering the fingers, wrist and thumb. Must be made of foam or an equivalent. No weighted boxing gloves.
Foot pads with a soft surface covering the instep, sides, toes, ankle and back of the heel. Must be made of foam or an equivalent. The bottom of the foot does not need to be padded.

Optional gear includes chest protector, shin guards and forearm guards.
Scores will range from 0/10. A decimal will be allowed but it must be a .5 if any.
Scores will be scaled based on rank – so a 10 for a Dragon is not equal to a 10 for an Adult Black Belt.
If there is a tie for 1st, 2nd or 3rd, under-belt competitors will perform again in a randomized order and will be allowed to perform the same form.
Black Belt competitors must perform a new form for the tiebreaker.
With 3 judges, all scores will be averaged.
With 5 judges, the highest and lowest scores are dropped and middle three are averaged.
For weapons: If a Black Belt competitor drops their weapon, they may continue their form but will automatically receive a 0 in scoring. Under Black Belt will be allowed to restart free of penalty, but a second drop will result in a disqualification.
Weapons involving blades must be dulled.
All scoring will take place after every competitor in a division has performed.
Scoring: First place in a division equates to 3 points towards the grand champion title. Second place is 2 points and third place is 1 point.
The person who accumulates the most overall points in all competition divisions will be awarded the title of Grand Champion!
In the event of a tie in points for Grand Champion, the title will be decided by comparing the competitors scores during their respective events.
They will receive an ETKK Grand Champion patch that can be worn on their gi forever!
