PREG started back in August 2021 with a group of neighbors interested in the progress being made (or not being made) on our community. Our first project was a survey to learn about residents' vision for our Town Center. We became a clearinghouse for information and a connection for meaningful public input with the Developer and the County of Monterey. From clearinghouse, we have moved to advocacy on issues of concern. Three years later there are still plenty of things to do to make EG an even more wonderful place to live.
Here are some achievements by PREG:
Town Center Survey - 593 residents and Friends of EG responded.
Published Parking Study for Town Center in 2024 including Parking Impact Survey of Residents
Promoted Input for New County Library in EG
Surveyed artists and promoted input for Master Study of Historic Arts District
Shared information on the Phase 3 and the Town Center Specific Plan and the Pattern Book
Promoted Call for Comment on the EG Plan to the Planning Commission
Promoted Community Services District (CSD) meetings and input
Shared Fort Ord / EG history and heritage
Hosted online meeting to to review Century Communities' developer plan and their revised Parking Study, compared to the PREG parking survey and analysis
Ongoing promotion of other community groups including Citizens for Sustainable Marina, Fort Ord Trail and Greenway (FORTAG ), Kiwanis Club of EG, and East-Garrison.com
Ongoing: share alerts from and contact with the County Board of Supervisors
Call to Action in June to send resident input on the County's Resolution and vote to accept Century Communities' Phase 3 and Town Center plan.
Shared survey of residents regarding EG's obligation to fund Monterey-Salinas Transit (MST) bus service
