Diana, known to the world as Wonder Woman, is the Princess of Themyscira, Champion of the Amazons, and one of the greatest heroes of the modern age. Born of clay and blessed by the goddesses of the Greek pantheon, she was created to be capable of growing, evolving, and loving without the scars of mankind’s cruelty. Gifted with extraordinary strength, wisdom, compassion, and skills, she trained since her early childhood to become the champion of her people. Defying her mother’s wishes, she left Themyscira to act as an emissary to the world of men, where she became a symbol of justice and hope.
Long ago, the Amazons were born from the Well of Souls—female spirits who suffered violence and death in the world of men, reborn on Paradise Island to live in peace. Hippolyta, the first amazon, led them in overthrowing Heracles, who had enslaved them, forging Themyscira as a sanctuary hidden from mankind.
Centuries later, a human pilot named Diana Rockwell crash-landed on the island. Though she eventually returned to her world, she left a lasting impression on Hippolyta, planting the seed of hope that humanity might not be entirely lost. Moved by this, Hippolyta prayed to the gods for a daughter—one who had never known the cruelties of man’s world. The gods answered, creating two children from Themysciran clay: Diana (light clay) and Nubia (dark clay). Each received gifts from the goddesses—strength from Demeter, wisdom from Athena, unity with animals from Artemis, mastery of languages from Hestia, flight from Iris, and a pure heart from Aphrodite. Hera bound them with an unbreakable bloodline, but Ares, god of war, stole Nubia away.
Diana grew up loving life and eager to explore beyond Themyscira. When Steve Trevor, the son of Diana Rockwell, accidentally arrived on the island, Hippolyta decreed that an Amazon would escort him home, but barred her daughter from competing for the honor. Disguising herself, Diana entered and won the Tournament of the Gods, revealing her identity and earning the right to act as Themyscira’s champion.
Armed with the Lasso of Truth, the Bracelets of Submission, and her Amazon armor, Diana departed for the Men's World. She embraced the unknown, knowing she had left behind certainty and safety, but believing that mistakes forge stories—and stories forge heroes.
She departed for the outside world with Steve Trevor, knowing she was leaving behind the safety and certainty of Themyscira. Over time, Diana’s compassion and courage defined her as Wonder Woman—The Champion of the Amazons.
Diana's adjustment to the World of Men was slow and difficult. Even though language wasn't a barrier, the gift of Hestia didn't allow her to feel at home among humans. Their culture was very different, and society was organized almost in reverse.
Prisons were for isolation instead of reintegration, and nature was a forgotten artifice surpassed by steel, unlike Themyscira, where they saw the mechanical as just another facet of the natural world. Their food was made by machines, their cars were made by machines, their entertainment was also provided by them, and yet it was up to humans to do the heaviest and most exhausting work.
Diana understood that beyond the superhero they would see in the newspapers, Wonder Woman should present herself as a representative of truth and with total transparency. Unlike the masked vigilantes who worked in the shadows, or the superheroes who flew through the sky to protect the city from the villain of the week, Wonder Woman needed to be a political and transformative figure.

Therefore, to handle political matters, the Themyscira Embassy was founded. Steve Trevor, in addition to his skills as an aviator, also had a legal background. Thus, he would take care of all the government-related legal proceedings. His friend Etta Candy was hired as marketing and career manager for Wonder Woman, promoting events and planning the hero's public appearances, as well as her speeches. Dr. Barbara Minnerva was the perfect choice to act as personal secretary and vice-ambassador. Despite being born in the World of Men, her knowledge and respect for Themyscira was immense. Finally, the minotaur Ferdinand was rescued during a mission by the hero to The Maze, located in the subsoil of Paradise Island, where she discovered his talent for cooking, which made him the official chief and concierge of the Embassy.
The chosen location to represent the Embassy's base of operations was Julia Kapatelis's mansion in Gateway City. She offered the space herself, as she had not used it since her divorce. Furthermore, Julia was a self-taught archaeologist and mystic, which made Wonder Woman a source of pure fascination. Her daughter, Vanessa Kapatelis, grew up alongside the group. Initially, her relationship with the hero was complicated, but over time, Nessy became Wonder Woman's biggest fan and was even grateful when the hero introduced her to a companion of the same age who could be her confidante: Donna Troy and Vanessa became best friends.
In her early years as a superhero, Diana saved the young Donna Troy during a desperate escape from Batman, the girl uttered the ancient word Hiketeia, sealing her place among the Amazons. An orphan marked by mysterious past-life memories, Donna was raised alongside her Amazon sisters and often make some visits to the Man's World under Diana’s protection.
Donna eventually became a hero in her own right, joining the Titans and later fighting beside Diana as an equal. Their bond has been tested by battles, secrets, and Donna’s search for her own truth, but Diana continues to guide her, fearing the dangerous answers Donna seeks.
After years of working as a hero and ambassador, the hero's figure became a global success, even if it meant acquiring a long collection of enemies along the way. These enemies were taken to the Isle of Transformation in Themyscira, where they would serve their sentences while trying to improve as people. But a new law in Gateway City puts the hero's modus operandi at risk, stating that any wrongdoer taken prisoner in the Gateway City region must be handed over to the Empire's Private Containment Center, founded by the millionaire Veronica Cale.
The American government also began to show interest in creating complex monetary relationships with the Amazons, who certainly refused, but Diana made a point of making them more present in Congress. An exchange program was set up so that curious Amazons could get to know the mortal world without abandoning their legacy, and an integration and housing project was even established in case any of them wanted to stay. Phillipus showed herself to be more willing to be present in the mortal world than her wife, which made her the official representative of the Amazon head of state.
Diana’s role as protector extended to Cassian, the only male chosen by the gods to walk Themyscira’s soil as an Amazon. Cassian’s mortal life ended tragically when his father, Lennox—a demigod son of Zeus—killed him without realizing it. Diana carried his body to the Well of Souls, where the gods remade him as the Champion of the Demigods.
She has since stood as a mentor and ally to Cassian, who wields the Lasso of Reason, the Gauntlet of Atlas, and his courage to bridge the worlds of gods and mortals. Cassian often recalls that Diana’s enemies are always the truly corrupt—those who hate her because they are repelled by her goodness. Creatures so vile that Diana doesn't even have the courage to name them as her enemies were responsible for the death of Julia Kapatelis at the beginning of the year, which left her daughter desolate and distraught. Vanessa has since disappeared without a trace.
Twenty years have passed since Diana of Themyscira stepped into the world of men as Wonder Woman, assuming the dual role of warrior and diplomat. Her mission has flourished beyond expectation. The Embassy of Themyscira now marks its tenth anniversary, having grown from a modest operation housed in the late Julia Kapatelis’s mansion into a major international institution supported by global governments. Though familiar allies such as Steve Trevor, Etta Candy, and Ferdinand remain part of its foundation, Diana has deliberately distanced herself from daily camaraderie, sacrificing personal closeness to ensure the Embassy’s independence and longevity. A new generation of Amazon diplomats now carries the work forward under her leadership.
This era of stability is disrupted by a scandal with global repercussions: evidence emerges suggesting that Themyscira is not the only Amazon homeland. The revelation coincides with a conflict broadcast worldwide, as Diana is forced into battle against Nubia, her lost sister, manipulated by a pact between the god Ares and the industrialist Veronica Cale. The confrontation does not end in conquest, but in truth.
Nubia learns the full story of her origin and rejects Ares’s design, choosing instead to stand beside Diana. Welcomed back to Themyscira, Nubia renounces her claim to the throne and requests guardianship over the Doom’s Doorway, the threshold to the Underworld. Her decision is not merely symbolic. Ares had warned her of a contingency buried beyond the gate, and when it is opened, the Amazons encounter Artemis of Bana-Mighdall, a fierce warrior who clawed her way out of Tartarus itself.
Artemis’s arrival exposes a truth Hippolyta had long concealed: multiple Paradise Islands exist, scattered across the world, each bound by an ancient pact among their queens never to reveal one another’s existence. Confronted with this omission, Diana finds not malice but resolve in her mother’s silence. The pact was forged to prevent Amazon nations from destroying one another should they ever meet unprepared. Now, that age of secrecy is ending. As Diana stands before the world once more, ready to speak, she understands that the Amazons have never vanished. From the Aegean Sea to hidden rainforests, from the depths of deserts to floating archipelagos, they have endured. And once again, Wonder Woman becomes the bearer of truth, not only for humanity, but for her people, as a new chapter in Amazon history begins.
