Biography 

Origin

Alethea emerged from the Well of Souls, like all Amazons—reborn from the spirits of women who perished in the world of men. Though she was newly formed and had not yet experienced the outside world, she carried within her an instinctive and ancient loathing for it, inherited from lifetimes past. Unlike many of her sisters, Alethea was still new to Amazonian life, untested in its most celebrated traditions.

The Tournament

When Steve Trevor crash-landed on Themyscira, Queen Hippolyta decreed that an Amazon would escort him back to the mortal world, with the champion chosen through the Tournament of the Gods. However, she forbade any of royal blood—including Princess Diana—from participating.

Alethea chose not to enter the tournament, preferring to spend time with Diana, who was embittered by her mother’s exclusion. During their conversations, Alethea noted Diana’s restless spirit and desire to see the outside world—not as an obligation to the gods, but as a calling of her own soul. In a simple but piercing observation, she told Diana:

“Perhaps, Diana, the will of the Gods is that you should leave us.”

These words struck Diana deeply, planting the seed for her fateful decision.

The Mask

Determined to act, Diana asked Alethea to let her take her place in the competition. She donned Alethea’s mask and entered the tournament anonymously, advancing through every trial until she emerged victorious. When Diana revealed her identity, the controversy was immediate—but Alethea stood in the crowd to speak on her behalf.

She declared that the other Amazons would compete only out of duty to the gods, but Diana would do so because it was the desire of her own soul. This statement silenced the opposition and helped secure Diana’s role as the chosen champion to venture into the mortal world.
