Nubia is the lost sister of Diana, molded from the clay of Themyscira and destined to be one of its greatest champions. Her story begins and ends in a divine tragedy.
When Queen Hippolyta prayed to the gods for a daughter untouched by the cruelties of mankind, the gods answered with an even greater gift: two daughters, each molded from the sands of Paradise Island. Diana was formed from the lightest clay, Nubia from the darkest, symbolizing balance and duality.
Like her sister, Nubia was blessed by the goddesses of the Greek pantheon:
Demeter – unmatched strength, descended from Gaea.
Athena – accelerated wisdom and perfect reflexes.
Artemis – communion with all animals.
Hestia – mastery of all languages.
Iris – the ability to traverse the skies.
Aphrodite – a loving and incorruptible heart.
Hera’s final gift bound Nubia and Diana together in an unbreakable bloodline.
Before the sisters could grow together, a shadow fell over their creation. Ares, god of war, emerged from the pantheon with venom and resentment toward both the Amazons and the gods who had forsaken him. Declaring that war—not peace—ruled the new world, Ares abducted Nubia in an instant, disappearing with her into the darkness.
This act tore the newly formed Amazon family apart. Diana grew up without her sister, knowing only that she had been taken by one of the Amazons’ greatest enemies. For Hippolyta, Nubia’s loss was a wound that time could never heal.
Though absent from Themyscira, Nubia’s name lived on in Amazonian memory. Prophecy and whispered hope suggested that she and Diana would one day stand on opposite sides of a great choice—deciding who would inherit the title of champion, one for the Amazons, the other for the gods.
