Minecraft is a platform for creative and engineering expression. Minecraft will be used to recreate Sidney, NE in VR.
About the Project
Build Sidney, Nebraska in Minecraft VR. We believe this will have an impact on STEM thinking and career orientation. Additionally, we think a positive 'sense of place' amongst youth and adults will increase.
Phase 1: Build Sidney "as-is"
Activities
- Identify the hardware, software, and processes needed for the successful completion of the project
- engage youth and adults in building Sidney in Minecraft
- engage community leaders in the process
- engage business owners in seeing their businesses in VR Minecraft
Phase 2: Future Orientation
Activities
- Maintenance of 'current' look of Sidney
- Reimagine how Sidney will look by building and showing in VR Minecraft
- Engage discussion around zoning and community planning using Minecraft VR
