This week in my Food Processing classes was highly productive, encompassing both practical activities and assessments, and culminating in a celebratory event. At the start of the week, I conducted a performance task in vinegar making. This hands-on activity allowed students to apply their theoretical knowledge to a practical process, deepening their understanding of fermentation and the steps involved in producing vinegar. The students engaged actively, demonstrating both curiosity and competence.
Midweek, I conducted a summative test and facilitated a review session to help students consolidate their learning. The summative test covered key concepts discussed throughout the term, providing a comprehensive assessment of the students' knowledge and understanding. The review session was interactive, offering students the opportunity to ask questions and clarify any doubts, which was crucial in preparing them for the periodical tests.
On Thursday and Friday, I printed the test questions and test paper. I facilitated the periodical tests for my students. These tests were a major assessment to evaluate the students' overall performance and grasp of the curriculum. As the facilitator, I ensured the testing environment was conducive to concentration and fairness, while also managing any logistical aspects smoothly.
Following the periodical tests, I spent Friday afternoon creating and finalizing the grades. This process involved meticulous recording and analysis of student performance across various assessments conducted throughout the term. Ensuring accuracy and fairness in grading is vital for reflecting the true capabilities and efforts of the students.
To cap off the week, we had a Thanksgiving celebration with the Grade 11 students. This event was a wonderful opportunity to recognize and appreciate the hard work and dedication of the students throughout the term. The celebration fostered a sense of community and provided a joyful conclusion to an intense period of assessments.
